WoW Forever DPS tier list

At the level 30 cap, Marksmanship Hunter is the best DPS spec in WoW Forever dungeons, with Beast Mastery Hunter, Enhancement Shaman and Demonology Warlock also in S. All 20 damage specs are ranked here, each with the talents behind the pick.

LV 30 Beta cap · Updated

S tier

First pick for a level 30 dungeon group.

Marksmanship

Hunter
#1

Trueshot Aura (raid-wide since Oct 15) and Mortal Shots fit inside the first 20 points, and Lone Wolf adds 20% damage if you play without a pet. Its ranged uptime on 1 to 3 targets is the best in the bracket, and only Sniper Shot waits for level 40.

Beast Mastery

Hunter
#2

Summon Hawk, Unleashed Fury and Ferocity fit in 21 points, so the pet and the hawk deal a big share of the damage at no mana cost. It matches Marksmanship in dungeons and is safer while leveling; Bestial Wrath waits for level 40.

Enhancement

Shaman
#3

Stormstrike and Flurry are both in reach, Windfury Weapon is trained at 30, and the 21st point buys the first rank of Improved Stormstrike for mana. It also brings Purge, shocks and off-healing, so it adds more to a group than a pure melee spec.

Demonology

Warlock
#4

Demonic Sacrifice sits in the first 20 points and the 21st buys Soul Link (30% of damage taken goes to the demon, and both deal 3% more) or one rank of Demonic Knowledge. With Hellfire able to crit since Oct 15, it has the best mix of pack damage and safety of any caster at 30.

A tier

Fully competitive. No group should turn you away.

Survival

Hunter
#5

Predator's Edge and Counterattack fit in 20 points and the 21st buys Strider Kick or a first rank of Expose Prey for a melee and ranged weave. Its payoff, Lacerating Strikes, is a level 40 capstone, so it trails the other Hunter trees now while level 60 sims put it near the top.

Affliction

Warlock
#6

Pandemic, Malevolence and Nightfall fit in 20 points and Siphon Life takes the 21st, which makes it very strong on bosses and long pulls. Trash that dies in seconds wastes its DoTs, and Oct 15 removed Malediction's periodic damage bonus.

Destruction

Warlock
#7

Ruin, Shadowburn and Conflagrate fit in 20 points and the 21st buys Bane of Havoc, which copies 15% of your damage onto a second target. It hits hardest up front of the three Warlock trees, while Shadow and Flame and Incinerate wait for 35 and 40.

Fire

Mage
#8

Ignite, Pyroblast and Heating Up fit in 20 points and the 21st buys Blast Wave, which with Flamestrike gives Fire the most pack damage of the Mage trees. On small pulls that edge fades, and Combustion waits for level 40.

Frost

Mage
#9

Shatter, Ice Lance and Ice Block fit in 20 points and the 21st buys Cold Snap, which makes Frost the safest Mage with the most control on pulls. Oct 15 cut Ice Lance's bonus on frozen targets from 300% to 200%.

Fury

Warrior
#10

Dual Wield Specialization and Raging Blows (cheaper Cleave and Whirlwind) fit in 20 points, and the 21st buys Death Wish for 20% more physical damage. Battle Shout reaches the whole raid since Oct 15; Bloodthirst waits for level 40.

Arms

Warrior
#11

Deep Wounds, Two-Handed Weapon Specialization and Spearing Strike (no two-hander needed since Oct 1) fit in 20 points, and the 21st buys Sweeping Strikes for cleave. Warriors gain 75% more rage from crits since Oct 1, but Arms leans on weapon quality and Mortal Strike waits for 40.

Combat

Rogue
#12

Flawless Execution and Dual Wield Specialization fit in 20 points and the 21st buys Blade Flurry, the only Rogue cleave at 30. Adrenaline Rush waits for level 40.

Assassination

Rogue
#13

Cold Blood and Vile Poisons fit in 20 points and the 21st buys Mutilate, which makes it the strongest Rogue on one target at 30. It has no cleave for big pulls, and since Oct 15 poisons no longer proc from enemies that hit you.

B tier

Clears everything, but behind on a key tool at this cap.

Retribution

Paladin
#14

Seal of Command, Sacred Arbiter and one rank of Vengeance carry it at 30, along with blessings and a heal. Oct 15 more than halved Consecration's spell power per tick (0.095 to 0.042), and Champion of the Light and Twist of Light only open at 35 and 40.

Elemental

Shaman
#15

Elemental Focus fits in 20 points, the 21st buys Lava Burst or one rank of Lightning Overload, and Chain Lightning costs about 35% less since Oct 15. Shamans can't use wands, so long dungeon runs drain its mana, and Elemental Mastery waits for 40.

Arcane

Mage
#16

Oct 15 cut Arcane Blast's damage by 40% in return for stacking spell damage, and the tree's payoff, Arcane Power, is a level 40 capstone. Its 21st point buys Presence of Mind, which helps less in packs than Blast Wave or Cold Snap.

Shadow

Priest
#17

Mind Flay, Shadow Weaving and Vampiric Embrace fit in 20 points, and Oct 15 cut Devouring Plague's cooldown to 24 seconds and Vampiric Embrace's to 30. It can wand between casts, but Shadowform waits for level 40.

Feral (Cat)

Druid
#18

Predatory Strikes and Shifting Power (mana into energy) fit in 20 points and the 21st buys Leader of the Pack, 3% crit for the whole group. Tiger's Fury was removed on Oct 1 and Berserk waits for 40, so its damage trails the other melee.

Subtlety

Rogue
#19

Its picks at 30 (Premeditation, Ghostly Strike, then Preparation or Hemorrhage with the 21st point) are built for openers and PvP, not dungeon packs. It trails Combat and Assassination in groups until its capstone at 40.

C tier

Missing its core tools until level 35 to 40.

Balance

Druid
#20

Insect Swarm fits in 20 points and the 21st buys Nature's Grace or one rank of Eclipse, but Moonkin Form is a level 40 capstone. Druids can't use wands, so it has no free filler when mana runs low.

Where we differ from other lists

Warlock
Most lists put every Warlock tree in S, and the one list that ranks the trees apart rates Demonology highest. We have Demonology in S and the other two in A.
Survival Hunter
Some lists rank all Hunter trees together in S. We put Survival in A because its capstone is level 40.
Arcane Mage
The Oct 15 Arcane Blast redesign came after most lists ranked Mage A as a class. It moved Arcane's payoff to 40, so we split Fire and Frost (A) from Arcane (B).
Retribution Paladin
Two lists rank it A. The Oct 15 Consecration cut came after those placements, so we have it in B.
Elemental Shaman
Some lists rank it A. We keep it in B: Shamans can't use wands, so its mana runs dry on long runs, and the Chain Lightning cost cut helps but doesn't close the gap.
Shadow Priest
Lists from before Oct 15 rank it C. The cooldown cuts to Devouring Plague and Vampiric Embrace that day came after them, so we have it in B.
Subtlety Rogue
Some lists rank every Rogue tree A. We have Subtlety in B because its level 30 talents are openers and PvP tools.
Balance Druid
Every list we read has it in C, and one says Nature's Grace and Eclipse come later. Both sit in row 5, so one of them is in reach at 30. Moonkin Form at 40 is the real gap.

What changes at 60

Every capstone opens at level 40 and row 6 at 35, and 51 points at 60 bring hybrid builds back. Level 60 sims of one raid boss with no movement put Survival Hunter first, then Fury Warrior, Demonology Warlock, Marksmanship Hunter and Fire Mage, with Enhancement and Elemental Shaman and Assassination Rogue near the bottom. Expect Survival and Fury to climb and Enhancement to drop. Sims ignore dungeon pulls, so the dungeon and raid lists will differ.

Talent data: WoW Forever client build 1.60.1.70450 via wago.tools, fetched Oct 21, 2026. The placements are ours: we read the public level 30 tier lists and Blizzard's development notes, then placed each spec by what its talents allow at 30. On Nov 4 this page switches to level 60, and this list moves to a Leveling dungeons (up to 30) section below it.
