Alts
A member's alt in a sister guild of the same game is linked to their main. One player is one member, so the alt takes no member slot while the main counts.
What an alt is
An alt is a character linked to its owner's main of the same game in the same community. The alt can sit in the main's own guild or in a sister guild. The roster shows it as Alt of its main, and in Discord, /members and the character choices read (alt of the main).
- Monsters & Memories, WoW Forever and Aion 2 have linked alts.
- Black Desert rosters hold one family name per member, so alt forms aren't used. WoW Classic has no alt forms yet.
- A second character someone adds by themselves, with
/uploador on the roster, is not linked. It sits on their row and changes nothing about the member count.
Adding an alt
Turn on Alt form in a guild's application form. Only members who already have a main in a guild of that game can use it; everyone else is sent to the normal form. The applicant picks their main from their own characters. Approving adds the alt to the roster, linked to that main, and the approval DM tells them the alt takes no member slot. See Applications for building the form.
- An alt form never removes roles on deny, since the applicant is already a member.
- A guild row that holds only alts is not archived for a missing member role while the main's row is live. The officer does not need to give the sister guild's member role for the alt to stay.
The member slot
A guild row that holds only linked alts takes no member slot while their main counts in another guild. If the main stops counting, the alts start counting where they are:
- The main leaves its guild, is archived, loses its member role, leaves the Discord server, is held back by a full guild, or its guild is deleted.
- When the alt's guild has room, the alt counts there as a member. When it is full, the alt row waits for room: the roster shows Waiting for room, the member gets a DM with their place in line, and they count once a slot opens.
- When the main comes back, the alt rows stop counting again, and an alt row still waiting leaves the line.
- The leave and Archive member dialogs name the guilds where the member's alts will start counting, before anyone confirms.
Link and Unlink
Officers with Manage Guild Members in the character's guild can link a character to a main, or unlink it. Use it for a character that was added without an alt form. You find both on the community member page, on the WoW Forever and Aion 2 roster row details, and in the Monsters & Memories character dialog.
- The main has to be another of the same member's characters of that game, on a roster that counts.
- A character that is the main of other alts can't be linked as an alt.
- Linking never needs a slot. Unlinking makes the character count in its guild, so a full guild refuses it.
Mains and deleting
- A linked alt can't be made the main: Make main is not shown on it, and
/character edit main:refuses it and changes nothing. - Deleting a main never leaves its alts behind. /delete-character and the Delete buttons on the site list the main's alts and ask: delete the main and every alt, or keep the main. Nothing is deleted until someone picks.
- Deleting the last alt on a guild row archives that row, since it was there for the alt.
Alts in guild life
- Events. Signing up to an event brings the character on that guild's roster by default, so an alt signs up as the alt. Posts and the party builder show the same character.
- Guild Bank. A request has an optional Send to, so the member can say which of their characters gets it in game.
- Voice DKP. A member in voice with a main in one guild and an alt in another earns it once, in the main's guild.
- DKP and loot commands. With no guild picked,
/dkpand/auctionuse the main's guild instead of asking.
