VOD Review

A review space for recordings. Anyone with access to a review channel can submit a YouTube or Twitch link, and the people in that channel leave feedback on it.

Who can use it

  • Every game, on the dashboard.
  • Free plan: channels, sessions, notes with replies, status, tags and share links. Pro: timestamped notes at an exact moment in the video, and drawings on the frame.
  • /vod-submit, the Discord command for sending a recording in, is Black Desert Online only.
  • A lead can also post a submit panel in a Discord channel. Its button lets members send a recording in without the command.
  • Guild permissions: View VOD Reviews (every member by default), Create VOD Reviews, View All VOD Reviews, Manage VOD Reviews and Share VOD Reviews.

Channels and sessions

VOD Review sits in the guild sidebar under Tools. Reviews live in channels, such as one per team or per war. Each channel has members with a role:

  • Lead: runs the channel. A lead adds and removes members and viewers, manages tags, folders and the submit panel, edits and deletes sessions, and can delete other people's notes. Only officers (Manage VOD Reviews) make or remove leads and change which Discord roles reach the channel.
  • Member: watches and comments.
  • Viewer: watches only.

Who sees what:

  • People added to a channel (Lead, Member or Viewer) see every session in it. That includes someone from another guild in your community, or an applicant, added by name: they can submit and leave notes there, on the website and from Discord.
  • Members of the guild with one of the channel's View-only roles read every session in it, but cannot post. Guilds that share a Discord server share its roles, so someone from another guild with the same role sees only their own VODs.
  • People who reach a channel only through a Role Access role see their own VODs.
  • Someone who leaves the guild can still read the feedback on VODs they uploaded, but can't post, edit or submit anything there.
  • The channel list shows every channel only to people with Manage VOD Reviews.
  • View All VOD Reviews lets you open every session in the channels you can reach.

Members, roles and role access are set in each channel's Team Settings.

The VOD Review page lists each channel with its leads. Officers see a warning on a channel with no lead (with how many officers get its DMs instead) and on a channel nobody can submit to, each with a link to fix it. Above the channels, Waiting for review lists the VODs waiting on you across every channel you lead.

Review a recording

1

Create a channel

Press Create Channel and name it. You lead it unless you pick someone else as Lead. Under Who can submit, pick Discord roles whose holders can send in their own VODs. The guild's first channel also becomes the one Discord /vod-submit sends VODs to. The channel's Members tab opens next, so you can add people right away.
2

Submit a VOD

Anyone with access to the channel can submit. Press New Session to open Upload VOD Session, paste the Video URL (a YouTube video or a Twitch VOD), and add a title and a description. You can also pick a folder, an assignee, the class, a score and a PvP link.
3

Pick up a VOD

A channel opens on Needs review, oldest first, and each card says how long the VOD has been waiting, in amber after two days. Load more shows older ones, and All and newest first are one click away. Press I'll review this to take a VOD: you become its assignee, it moves to In review, and everyone sees who has it. You can undo it. After Mark reviewed, Next to review opens the next one.
4

Leave feedback

Open the session and leave a note. On Pro you can pin a note to the moment it happens in the video and draw on the frame. Edit drawing on your own note reopens its drawing on the same frame, so you can change it or how long it shows. Replies thread under each note. Only a note's author can edit it; leads and admins can delete other people's notes but not edit them. Filter sessions by folder, tag or status, or by Assigned to me.

Discord notifications

  • The channel's leads get a DM for new VODs. When a channel has no lead, or its only lead sent the VOD, the guild's officers (everyone with Manage VOD Reviews) get it instead. The DM and the channel post have an I'll review this button.
  • Officers can also pick a Discord channel under Post new VODs in on the VOD Review settings page, and new VODs are posted there too.
  • When one person sends several VODs in quick succession, only the first few send these notices.
  • Once a day, each lead (or officer, as above) gets one DM listing the VODs that have waited more than two days.
  • The uploader gets a DM on the first feedback on their VOD, and when someone marks it reviewed.
  • A note's author gets a DM when someone replies to it. More replies from the same person within a few minutes don't send another.
  • Each DM links to the session on CoGM. Anyone can turn these off under VOD reviews in their DM settings.

Share a session

Officers with Share VOD Reviews can press Generate Share Link on a session, so someone outside the channel can watch it. The link stops working while the VOD is archived and works again when you unarchive it.

Delete a VOD or a note

When an uploader deletes their own VOD after other people left notes on it, the VOD is archived instead, so the feedback stays. Officers and the channel's leads can still delete it for good. Deleting a note that has replies keeps the replies and shows the note as removed.

Delete a channel

Only officers can delete a channel. You choose what happens to its VODs: move them to another channel, or delete them for good. Moved VODs keep their notes but leave this channel's folders and tags behind. If the channel was the guild's /vod-submit channel, the channel you move them to takes its place.
